Wednesday 14 July 2021: Dartmoor Invasive Species Project: Volunteers needed. Dartmoor Ranger Ella Briens and ecologist Mervyn Newman are looking for help! Following the survey conducted by Mervyn for Dartmoor National Park to help plan for the control of invasive alien species, they will be will be working in Penstave Copse, pulling Himalayan Balsam and de-seeding ‘American Skunk-Cabbage’. They will be on site from 10am and working on until about 3pm. If you can, please spare the time to join them (even for an hour or so). They will meet on the footpath where the route enters ‘access land’ at approx. GR 692 609; – you can find them by coming North up along the footpath from Lydia Bridge, and through ‘fat man’s alley’ and onto the Woodland Trust’s Penstave Copse. You can park on the roadside leading from Brent to Lydia Bridge or if space in the Station Yard car park. Bring a packed lunch and drink and your own gloves if you have them…..and we will bring cake!
