Buckfastleigh is doing its annual Shoe Collection during September and will take your unwanted shoes. They will be taken by a recycling company, who send good ones to third world countries and recycle the rest; the money received from this is used to buy new school shoes or uniforms for children (usually orphans) in Gambia. £250 was raised last year and helped 13 children.
Shoes should be in pairs either tied together or elastic banded. Walking shoes are very welcome but no wellies or flip flops please.
Items can be left in the porch of the Methodist Church in South Brent, or given to a chapel member, or dropped off at the Methodist Church in Buckfastleigh, or the Methodist Chapel in Buckfast.
