Scything Time – 2 – Raking the Hay
5 years ago, a hardworking bunch of SSB volunteers now known as ‘The 4Bs’ (Brent Bees Bugs & Butterflies) turned an overlooked patch of consistently mown grass verge in the Exeter Road / Play park area, into a diverse wildflower meadow
… and every summer we scythe it. As we did yesterday (Saturday 10 August)
On Sunday 11 August from 10-12noon we will finish raking up the green hay and take it (with a vehicle) to the Marsh Composting site. Bring a rake if you can.
There will be other opportunities to scythe in Brent this year – FFI contact beesbugs@ssb.org.uk.

The 4Bs are still looking for a Project co-ordinator, if you’re passionate about nature and have a bit of time to give you could help preserve this meadow and other projects that aim to increase biodiversity in South Brent.
