Himalayan Balsam Bashing

Friday 10 June 2022 (changed date) from 7.30 – 9.30 pm. Venue tbc. SSB and Dartside Explorer Scouts are teaming up to spend a cheery evening tackling a species that’s invading areas of Dartmoor: Himalayan Balsam. If left unchecked, this prolific plant will readily out compete and further endanger our native flowers, depriving insects of habitat, and birds of a food source. Many hands make light work, and all SSB members are welcome to attend. Himalyan Balsam is very easy to hand-pull, so no great strength is required. Gloves are a good idea – and stout footwear is a must to cope with uneven and hilly ground at the venue not far from South Brent. Bring refreshments and a smile.
