Starting from Monday 11 July 2022: Dartmoor Invasive Species Project: Following the survey conducted by ecologist Mervyn Newman for Dartmoor National Park, Mervyn, and Dartmoor Ranger Ella Briens and are looking for help to tackle Himalayan Balsam around Brent. “If anyone is able to help out it will be really appreciated. We are meeting at 10am near Lydia Bridge, then car sharing up to the site and will be working on site from 10.30am-3pm. Please dress for Dartmoor and bring gloves– there may be brambles as we are working along a hedge-line, bring drinks and lunch and we will provide ‘treats’ to keep you all going! Himalayan Balsam usually pulls out of the ground easily and we have had great success working through the local area. The hard bit may be getting to the Balsam but we will have some extra tools to do that if required!!!” Please contact Ella for more details of the site and to let her know if you intend to join them, by emailing ebriens@dartmoor.gov.uk.
