South Brent Community Radio builds on the success of the two pilot days broadcast in 2013 (during which 20 people made features; 30 took part on the broadcast day; 800 listened online with 200 on FM and more than 150 used the ‘listen again’ facility). The project helps to celebrate the diversity and identity of the village community and helps to combat rural isolation, connecting people to local services and opportunities, providing a platform for creative expression and giving local people a voice on issues that directly affect their lives.

Access is offered to equipment; training in recording, editing and presenting skills plus the relevant technical, social, IT and internet related skills is provided and participants gain the experience of broadcasting to the community (and anyone in the world with an internet!).

You can still hear, or ‘Listen again’ to all the archived South Brent Community Radio broadcasts with all sorts of recordings from around the village.

In December 2016 SSB were awarded a further grant from Awards for All. This has enabled a further development for South Brent Community Radio that puts emphasis upon working with young people. Alice Armstrong, our wonderful Community Radio Practitioner, has been working closely with the Primary School, After School Club and others to bring young voices to the airwaves.
