DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 28 May 2024: Avon Valley Project – Networking Event for Avon Valley Landowners and Land Managers: meeting in the main hall at the Old School Community Centre from 6.30-8.30pm.  \nDo join us if you are a land owner or land manager in the Upper Avon Valley and you are interested in conservation and one or more of the following – increasing the biodiversity of your land / creating nature corridors along the Avon Valley)/ hearing about what your neighbours are doing and what they have learnt on their experiences with their land / site visits on each other’s land / sharing information / volunteer days e.g. bat\, flower and bird surveys\, creating more water features / planting trees / celebrating the seasons / applying for grants to do more conservation work (e.g. fencing\, tree planting\, gates). \nIn this meeting we will share ideas on what we want to focus on and how we can make this happen. Together we can create a group that can support each other with ideas and perhaps help each other working together on our land. Your contribution can be as little or large as you choose. SUMMARY:Active Hope Course (October - December 2021)
DESCRIPTION:Active Hope Course; Thursday evenings; 5.30-8.30pm: Dates:7 & 21 October; 4 & 18 November; 2 & 9 December. – Would you like to make a positive difference for future generations so life on our planet\, but feel overwhelmed\, burned-out\, paralysed or numbed by the enormity of the challenges? This course is for people wanting to influence change to make a positive difference for future generations. We are in a climate and environmental crisis; the recent IPCC report states that we are on code red – climate change is real\, present and lasting\, with effects almost certain to worsen through the coming decades. This all sounds so alarming. There is an urgency to act! ………yet action without reflection\, calmness and clear thinking can be wasteful and burn you and others up. These workshops are a safe place to be with our feelings\, helping us to stay grounded\, connected and responsive to what’s happening in our lives\, our communities and our world. The course will be on-line via Zoom. It is highly interactive\, and is based on the work of Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone\, to address the urgent crisis we face – “Exploring how to face the mess we’re in without going crazy”. The group will be facilitated by Jeannie Hodder\, Leadership Coach and Facilitator. Payment is on a donation basis (offerings at the end of the course). Participants are expected to commit to the whole course and spaces are limited (max. 12 places) so booking is essential. DESCRIPTION:February – April 2021: Active Hope Course “Exploring how to face the mess we’re in without going crazy”. \nDates: Wednesday 24 February; Wednesday 3 March; Sunday 14 March; Wednesday 24 March; Sunday 28 March; and Wednesday 7 April 2021 (Wednesdays 6.30-8.45pm; Sundays 2-4.30pm) Sessions will be on-line on Zoom but COVID permitting there will be a later half day ‘Council of All Beings’ workshop outdoors. \nA six week training with a small group of people\, sharing our gratitude for life\, our human responses to this environmental crisis\, and envisaging how to move forwards inspired\, resilient and courageous. This workshop is a safe place to be with our feelings\, helping us to stay grounded\, connected and responsive to what’s happening in our lives\, our communities and our world. Unless we have spaces to feel our responses to the destruction in our world\, we can easily feel paralysed or numb – and not take the necessary action to prevent more harm. \nThe course of workshops is based on the work of Joanna Macy and Chris Johnstone\, recently revised (2020) to address the urgent crisis our world is in. The group will be co-facilitated by Jeannie Hodder and John Betts. \nThis work is an offering from the facilitators but those who wish to make a donation at the end of the course may do so. DESCRIPTION:Wednesday 25 November 2020: Communicating on Climate Change and the Environment: A Zoom workshop from 7:00 – 9:15pm. For people engaged in actions about Climate Change and the Environment that involve talking with people. An evening to explore skilful communication using improvisation\, play and calling on what we already know; an exploration of how to respond in situations when we may feel challenged. How can we communicate with more impact and engage in meaningful conversation with people we meet whilst on demonstrations\, actions or in meetings? Jeannie\, Sally and Lindsey invite you to this highly participatory workshop to explore this question. We will work first as a whole group and then spend time in small breakout rooms on Zoom to play with various responses to situations.
