DESCRIPTION:Tuesday Fair Share: from 2.30pm at Palstone Park Rec. \nAn opportunity for residents of South Brent and the surrounding area to access affordable\, good quality surplus (in date) produce\, minimising food waste and landfill. \nEveryone is welcome; You’ll be asked to check in each time\, and there is a suggested donation of £3.50. (The food is free but we need to pay transport and rent). For that you can get at least 10 items of food and groceries\, from a selection of produce that changes every week and includes a selection of fruit and vegetables and store cupboard essentials. If you feel you would like to donate more than £3.50 you are welcome to. There is free parking on site at the Rec. \nThe main supplier is Fareshare SouthWest\, a national charity that redistributes surplus food from the food industry to community groups. \n  \n  \n \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \n  \nThis is a volunteer led project\, if you are interested in volunteering\, please email tuesdayfairshare@ssb.org.uk. \nFor more information about Tuesday Fair Share see the Tuesday Fair Share Project page

DESCRIPTION:Thursday 30 April 2026: More Fruit Tree Care and Potato planting in the new Community Orchard: \nAfter ten people came to the new orchard to install tree guards on the 16th (see: https://ssb.org.uk/event/protecting-the-fruit-trees/) on an unexpectedly warm afternoon\, (many thanks for all your hard work!)\, we now have only around 40 trees left to do. \nSo we have another call out for volunteers to mulch the trees with the Marsh compost. There is already grass growing through the initial mulching\, so we need to pile on some more. \n  \nThere will also be an opportunity to plant the last of the donated seed potatoes – not many left after 150 were planted last week. \nThere is also some weeding to be done! Come and join us \n– The entrance is muddy so wear boots. \nAccess to the Market Garden field site – on foot or by bike\, but absolutely no cars – is along Palstone Lane then left down Portford Lane to a signposted entrance on the left – What3Words: extend.showed.spreading.
