SUMMARY:Dartmoor Invasive Species Project: Himalayan Balsam - Volunteers needed
DESCRIPTION:Dartmoor Invasive Species Project: Himalayan Balsam – Volunteers needed. Work has now started on the Dartmoor Invasive Species Project. Ecologist Mervyn Newman has planned volunteer work parties focussing on Himalayan Balsam over the Summer on the River Avon and its tributaries northwards from South Brent on Friday 2 August\, Thursday 22 August and Thursday 12 September. Each day will run from 10am until 3.30pm and any help will be greatly appreciated. This follows a survey conducted by Mervyn for Dartmoor National Park to help plan for the control of invasive alien species (Himalayan Balsam and ‘American Skunk-Cabbage’ in particular but also noting Japanese Knotweed and Monkeyflower). If you are interested in helping please contact Mervyn directly on invasives@dartmoor.gov.uk.
